Salvi T2 Lever Harp
Redefining the student instrument

38 strings. Contemporary silhouette. A sound that speaks. The Salvi T2 is the lever harp for students who refuse to compromise — blending professional tonal depth with a design language that is unmistakably modern.

What is the Salvi T2?

The Salvi T2 represents the next chapter in the company's celebrated lever harp lineage. Where earlier student instruments prioritised affordability above all else, the T2 signals a deliberate shift: this is an instrument that takes beginners and intermediate players seriously, delivering the tonal richness and playing confidence that genuine musical progress demands.

With 38 strings spanning a full range, the T2 occupies the ideal middle ground — substantial enough for serious repertoire, yet accessible for students stepping into the world of the harp for the first time. The flowing profile and refined lines are not merely cosmetic; they reflect a rethinking of what a lever harp can and should be in the contemporary market.

Key features of the Salvi T2

  • 38-string full range - Covers the breadth of student repertoire and supports musical development well into intermediate-level study.

  • New design language - Elegant proportions and flowing lines define a contemporary aesthetic that sets it apart from conventional lever harps.

  • Deep, rich, clear tone - Engineered for a resonant, balanced sound across all registers — not the thin or bright tone common in entry-level instruments.

  • Solid & reliable build - Constructed to endure the demands of daily practice, lesson environments, and regular transportation.

  • Tradition meets modernity - Salvi's decades of acoustic expertise are expressed through a forward-looking visual and tonal identity.

  • Ideal for all student levels - Suitable from first lessons through to Grade 8 and beyond — a single investment that grows with the player.

Who is the T2 designed for?

The Salvi T2 is purpose-built for students at any stage of their harp journey, from curious beginners to committed intermediate players preparing for examinations or performance. Its full 38-string compass means students will not outgrow the instrument prematurely — a critical consideration for parents and educators making long-term investment decisions.

It is equally well-suited to adult learners returning to music, community ensembles, and school music programmes seeking an instrument that offers genuine acoustic quality without the cost and complexity of a pedal harp.

Ideal for

— Beginner to intermediate students
— Ages 10 and above
— School and conservatoire programmes
— Adult learners and returners
— Community orchestras and ensembles
— Home practice and recital use

Frequently asked questions

Is the Salvi T2 suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. The T2 is specifically designed as a student lever harp, making it an excellent first instrument. Its full 38-string range means beginners can access a wide variety of repertoire from the outset, and will not need to upgrade the instrument prematurely as their skills develop.

What is the difference between a lever harp and a pedal harp?

A lever harp uses mechanical levers at the top of each string to change pitch by a semitone, making it more portable and accessible than a concert pedal harp. The Salvi T2's lever mechanism is well-suited to the vast majority of classical, folk, and contemporary student repertoire.

How many strings does the Salvi T2 have?

The T2 has 38 strings, giving it a full tonal range that spans the breadth of mainstream student and intermediate repertoire. This places it above many competing student lever harps, which often offer only 22–34 strings.

What makes Salvi harps different from other brands?

Salvi has been building harps in Italy since 1954 and is recognised as one of the world's leading harp manufacturers, supplying instruments to professional orchestras, soloists, and conservatoires globally. The T2 inherits this acoustic heritage and quality control, distinguishing it meaningfully from mass-produced alternatives.

Is the T2 portable? Can students transport it to lessons?

Lever harps are significantly more portable than concert pedal harps. The T2 is designed with practical use in mind — suitable for regular transportation between home, school, and lesson venues, particularly when used with an appropriate harp bag or case.

Salvi Harps Mia 34 String Harp (Discontinued)
from $3,290.00

When harp specialists are asked to recommend the single best entry-level 34-string instrument, the Salvi Mia surfaces again and again — and for good reason. Born from Italy's most storied harp-making tradition, the Mia occupies a uniquely compelling position in the Celtic and small-format lever harp market: it delivers genuine tonal beauty at a price that doesn't demand compromise.

A Sound That Surprises

What distinguishes the Mia above all else is its voice. This is a harp with a notably lyrical, uplifted quality — bright, spritely, and uncommonly pleasant to listen to. It does not produce the bold, projecting sound of a larger instrument, nor is it intended to. Instead, it excels at the intimate, expressive warmth that makes lever harp music so captivating in home and studio settings. Our harp technician loved this instrument so much she purchased one for herself — and it remains her everyday playing harp. That is perhaps the most honest endorsement we can offer.

Construction & Materials

The Mia is built with a solid Okoumé soundboard — a tonewood prized for its clarity and resonance — housed within a full solid-wood instrument body sourced from European timber. This is not a laminated or composite construction; it is a properly voiced acoustic instrument. The standard string set is BioCarbon, a low-tension synthetic offering a responsive, even touch ideally suited to developing technique. A gut string upgrade is available for players seeking additional warmth and complexity.

Who Is the Salvi Mia For?

The Mia hits a genuine sweet spot for three distinct buyers: the beginner harpist stepping into a 34-string instrument for the first time; the student who wants the full five-octave range without the bulk or cost of a larger harp; and the accomplished player seeking a lightweight, portable second instrument. It will fill a room with ease, though it is not engineered for amplified stage performance. Think of it as a harp you will love playing every day — easy to carry, easy to tune, and effortlessly enjoyable.

How Does It Compare to the Ravenna 34 and Drake 34?

Shoppers frequently ask us to compare the Mia against the Lyon & Healy Ravenna 34 and Drake 34. The Mia and Ravenna are direct competitors in format and price. The Mia tends to be slightly more petite and its tone is distinctly more lyrical — gentle and sonorous rather than powerful. The Drake steps up in volume and projection, making it the preference of more advanced players who need greater carrying power. For those prioritising sweetness of sound and effortless portability, the Mia is consistently our recommendation.
