Snow Stringed Instruments is the sole distributor of Xueping Hu's instruments in the United States.
In October 1989, the renowned luthier William Hu( Chinese name Xueping Hu) established the Snow Workshop in Beijing, China with six workers, to produce hand-crafted string instruments. Nine years later, Snow Stringed Instruments, Inc was born in New York. William’s brother, Jack Hu expanded Snow into an international wholesale business specializing in quality violins, violas, cellos, and basses only produced from Snow workshop. Over the past years, Snow has consulted leading luthiers from Italy, France, the UK and the US for specific guidance regarding construction, tone production and varnishing .The company has continued to refine its artistry and follow the latest technologies in crafting exquisite stringed instruments, and steadily produce a new line for each year. Snow proudly carries a passion to create new ideas around its instruments. By 2007, Snow’s Workshop has grown to 70 workers to fulfill the increasing market demand. As Snow approaches 2008, we came up with the idea of using today’s technology to make our violins more accessible to our customers by listing individual violins with their own pictures and sound sample on our new website. It allows the buyer to pick and choose through a number of models that are best for their own tastes at a convenient point.

Violin – The Masterpiece of Strings
The violin is one of the most iconic and popular musical instruments in the world. Known for its rich, warm sound and versatility, the violin is used in a wide range of music genres, from classical and jazz to folk and popular music.
The violin's origins date back to the early 16th century in Italy, where the first violins were developed by master luthiers like Andrea Amati, Gasparo da Salò, and Giovanni Maggini. The violin's design has remained largely unchanged since then, with its characteristic curvy shape, four strings, and chinrest.
The violin is played with a bow, which is made of horsehair and is drawn across the strings to produce sound. The bow's tension and pressure can be adjusted to produce different tones, and the player's fingering and vibrato technique can also affect the sound.
One of the most notable features of the violin is its ability to produce a wide range of expressive sounds, from delicate and whispery to loud and soaring. It can also produce a variety of playing techniques, such as pizzicato (plucking the strings) and tremolo (quickly repeating a note).
The violin is often used as a solo instrument, but it is also an important part of orchestras and chamber music ensembles. Some of the most famous violin concertos include Beethoven's Violin Concerto, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.
In addition to classical music, the violin is also used in many other genres. In folk music, it is a staple instrument in countries like Ireland, Scotland, and Appalachia. In jazz music, the violin has been played by legends like Stéphane Grappelli and Jean-Luc Ponty. And in popular music, artists like Lindsey Stirling and David Garrett have pushed the boundaries of what the violin can do.
In conclusion, the violin is a timeless masterpiece of the strings that have captivated audiences for centuries. Its versatility, expressiveness, and beauty continue to inspire and enchant listeners around the world.
