Departing from the ornate, hand-carved floral motifs common to 19th-century instruments, the Style 160 features a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The upright column is shaped with modern, spiraling facets that wind gracefully around the curvature of the pillar, terminating in a crisp, minimalist capital.
This sculpted geometry gives the instrument a fresh architectural presence while preserving the structural rigidity required to support standard concert-pitch string tension. The high-polish brass pedal plate and natural soundboard binding provide subtle contrast against the sculpted lines of the body.
Two Formats: Concert Grand (CG) & Semi-Grand (SG)
To accommodate varied spatial needs and player ergonomics, Lyon & Healy engineered the Style 160 in two distinct body configurations:
Style 160 CG (Concert Grand): Standing 72.75 inches tall with an extended 21.5-inch soundboard width, the CG model maximizes acoustic air volume in the body cavity. This provides the deep bass fundamental and carrying power required to project through large symphonic halls.
Style 160 SG (Semi-Grand): Designed with a slightly narrower soundboard and a lower profile (approximately three inches shorter), the SG offers a more compact footprint and easier transportability for gigging musicians, while maintaining the full 47-string compass.
Sitka Spruce Soundboards & Palettes
The soundboard is the acoustic engine of any harp. Both models utilize hand-selected, quartersawn Pacific Sitka Spruce, graduated to yield an immediate, resonant response across all seven octaves—from the rich rumble of 7th Octave C to the crystalline bell-tones of 0 Octave G.
The Style 160 is offered in four distinct finishes:
Natural: Highlighting the clear, honeyed grain of the selected hardwoods.
Mahogany: A warm, classic reddish-brown tone.
Cherry: A rich, amber-hued traditional wood stain.
Sage: A soft pastel green finish introduced specifically for this release, presenting a fresh, understated alternative to conventional stains.
