This viola is from David Doucet’s workshop in Washington state. The sloping shoulders, reminiscent of a “gambaesque” model ease access to the upper positions on this 16 ½” viola. The viola has a big, open sound with fast response. The instruments sound is even across all four strings and up into the upper positions. The fast response and projection would make it easy to fill a room or balance in a quartet. The viola was owned by a retired professional player who broke it in for its next partner!
