Original owner, purchased in circa 1988 from Shar Music. The Karl Joseph Schneider, long a staple in the offerings of Shar Music, is an excellent step-up instrument for the advancing violist. The varnish is a straightforward application of a rich spirit varnish. Crafted in Germany.  The Master Art series viola is no longer offered by Shar. The viola offers a rich tone and the fact that the instrument was made by a real craftsperson using the time-tested methods of violin making that has all but vanished in the modern world of mass-production.
