" A classic Twentieth Century master bow by one of Germany's most accomplished makers, Paul Weidhaas (1894-1962). Weidhaas gained his Mastership following apprenticeships with Winterling, Vedral, Moller and Fetique. The period in Paris under Victor Fetique is the culmination of his training and where the eye for fine precision, balance and ultimately playability was perfected...so much so that his own bows often bore the Fetique brand. Following his successful training, Weidhaas returned to his familial home in Markneukirchen, a violin and bow making center, where he remained for his career. In addition to his outstanding bows, his legacy as an instructor is also profound having trained other significant makers including Siegried Finkel.
This bow bears the Weidhaas brand and is mounted with rose gold fittings. The stick is Octaganally carved and the ebony frog bears a pearl eye. Button has a pearl eye at the end, and a large ebony center ring encased in rose gold. The bow is in good condition; the frog has small repaired cracks and the gold ring has started to split on the lower ring of the button.
