Vermont Violins Relocates to Historic 10 Spencer Street in Lebanon, NH

VERMONT VIOLINS NEWSROOM – Continuing our 20-year commitment to the Upper Valley music community, Vermont Violins is thrilled to announce the relocation of our New Hampshire experience center and workshop from the Powerhouse Mall in West Lebanon to a newly restored historic facility at 10 Spencer Street in downtown Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Nearing completion of renovations, the new location is scheduled to open soon on a regular schedule, offering musicians, students, and educators an expanded showcase space and an upgraded bench service department.

Historic Architecture Meets World-Class Acoustics

Our new home occupies two-thirds of the front section of a turn-of-the-20th-century red brick railroad freight house. Recently purchased by artists from the Hanover community, the building is being transformed into a vibrant regional arts hub, with the back portion featuring portrait artist studios and the front hosting Vermont Violins.

The space has been meticulously restored to balance historical character with modern comfort and acoustic performance:

  • Acoustic Ceiling Proportions: Featuring 15-foot ceilings with exposed, reworked rafters and joists, the room offers natural acoustic amplification and sound distribution for testing violins, violas, cellos, and bows.

  • Modern Climate Controls: Outfitted with new Marvin windows and a radiant heated floor slab, ensuring temperature and humidity stability to protect fine tonewoods.

  • Expanded Event Space: Designed to host workshops, masterclasses, visiting artist recitals, and community gatherings.

  • Full Accessibility: The storefront features a fully handicap-accessible entrance with ample parking on-site and in the municipal lot directly across the street.

Restoring Full Luthier & Bench Services to the Upper Valley

Alongside our instrument showcase, 10 Spencer Street marks the return of a full-service luthier workshop to our New Hampshire location. With a dedicated resident luthier joining our staff, local string players will have direct, local access to bench repairs, bridge adjustments, bow re-hairs, soundpost regulations, and restoration services without leaving the Upper Valley.

The location sits within walking distance of the Upper Valley Music Center and serves as a primary service hub for regional school string programs, youth orchestras, and private studios throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.

A Strategic Crossroads for New England String Players

Located less than ten minutes from our previous West Lebanon storefront, 10 Spencer Street sits directly at the intersection of Interstate 89 and Interstate 91, making it an accessible regional destination across the Northeast.

Situated in New Hampshire, the experience center continues to offer a sales-tax-free advantage on all instrument purchases, bows, and accessories for customers traveling in from Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, and beyond.

Supporting Lebanon's Vision as a Cultural Destination

The city of Lebanon is actively developing its downtown district into a regional arts center. By establishing our audio arts experience center alongside visual art studios, Vermont Violins is proud to support this ongoing community transformation.

Whether you are dropping off an instrument for shop repair, trialing a master bow, or selecting an outfit for the upcoming academic year, our team looks forward to welcoming you to 10 Spencer Street this August.
