Global celebration of World Fiddle Day.  Celebrating the music of the very wide violin family of instruments.  World Fiddle Day was founded by Donegal fiddler Caoimhin Mac Aoidh in 2012. The May date was chosen to coincide with the 1737 death of Italian violin craftsman Antonio Stradivari.

World Fiddle Day is celebrated annually on the Saturday closest to May 19th. Its one day when players of the “fiddle” family of instruments – violins, violas, cellos, double basses, hardangers, viola da gambas etc. can celebrate its beauty.
